Leo Carillo State Beach
Leo Carillo State Beach spans 1.5 miles of coastline, featuring broad beaches for swimming, hidden coves and caves, tide pools, and a rocky shoreline. It is a favorite painting place for many artists, and the fall weather should be great.
Meet at 9:00 AM at Lifeguard Tower #3 Look for a white paint-out feather flag to direct you.
If you are driving up from the south, go past the main entrance to the park (This is paid parking, and it will be a LONG hike) and past the road on the northwest side of the park that crosses the highway to the beach side of the park. Go up the hill about 200 feet, and make a U-turn when safe. Park along the southwest side of PCH for free. There are paths from there over to the cliffs. Coming from the northwest, park along PCH as soon as you see the broad beach come into view.
Lifeguard Station #1 is the first one on the broad beach (Nicholas Beach) directly across from the park entrance. Lifeguard Tower #2 is the first one up on the cliff to the west above the broad beach, and Lifeguard Tower #3 is to the west of Tower #2.
