Join our Painting Challenge!
This is our second “Ishikawa Challenge!” Mike Ishikawa is challenging you to make an 11x14 painting of this image and bring your painting to the general meeting on July 11. We will line them up next to each other so we can see the wonderful difference in styles we all bring to the easel. Each person who brings a painting for the challenge will be given a free raffle ticket for product prizes at the meeting. Also, if you bring a guest to the meeting, you will get a free raffle ticket. Happy Painting!
A Little Note from Mike
“Hi PSSC’ers! Here is your next pastel painting challenge. Miki and I were on a driving trip up the coast of Oregon in May. What a great drive—at every turn in the road the coastal views inspired a photo stop. We drove into a boat harbor that had many fishing boats, as I wanted to take more photos of the vintage wooden boats. Driving into the parking lot, I saw this field of orange flowers. Upon close inspection, they were California poppies! The bloom had faded in California, but it was still going strong in Oregon. I took many photographs, but the one I really liked was this one, where I pointed the camera from a low vantage point and took this close-up of the poppies with a backdrop of the backlighted trees. It’s going to be interesting to see how each of you will interpret the photo and come up with your own version. So put on your creative hat and go at it! See you at our next in-person meeting.”
