Join our Painting Challenge!

This is our third “Ishikawa Challenge!” Mike Ishikawa is challenging you to make an 11x14 painting of this image and bring your painting to the general meeting on September 12. We will line them up next to each other so we can see the wonderful difference in styles we all bring to the easel. Each person who brings a painting for the challenge will be given a free raffle ticket for product prizes at the meeting. Also, if you bring a guest to the meeting, you will get a free raffle ticket. Happy Painting!

Ishikawa Challenge #3

A Little Note from Mike

“Well PSSC’ers, this is the photo for the challenge at our next PSSC meeting. Miki and I drove up the California coast to Oregon in April. The Oregon coast is very rugged, with bluffs, rocks, beaches and crashing waves. Everything is there for a fabulous painting. At one of the pull-over look-out points, this was the view from our vantage point. What a fantastic scene! It has a background of a distant point, a middle ground of a smaller point with rocks, and in the foreground is this large boulder sitting in the water with these pocket-sized rocks and a nice sandy beach. The sun was behind clouds, so you do not see many highlights on the rock and boulders, so use your imagination and let’s see how you would liven up this scene. All the ingredients are there, so put on your artistic hat and have some fun. There are hundreds of ways to interpret this scene, so let’s see how everyone views and paint this at our next meeting. This is not a competition, no awards, so be brave and impulsive, do something bold and out of your comfort zone. Mike”
