Workshop Description
It is likely that the first thing you ever drew was a portrait. When you first put crayon to paper you wanted to recreate the people in your life. Yet as we grow and our standards become more critical, many of us give up creating portraits, feeling that it is too complicated. In this 2-day workshop, master pastelist Corey Pitkin will guide students through his method for breaking a likeness down into manageable steps to recapture your enthusiasm for portraits. In the morning sessions Corey will demo while he discusses anatomy, form, pastel technique, art history, and how to make a portrait feel alive, and then guide students through their own work in the afternoons. Both days will feature a live model.

Testimonials from former students:
I learned more in 4 hours at the demo today than I did studying art in college for 4 years. No joke. You were so open and generous. Thank you! And what a lovely portrait you composed in front of an audience! I look forward to signing up for anything else. -Tricia
Your workshop was excellent. I really appreciated your in-depth attention and explaining of the details that make all the difference in a portrait. You have given me a plan to work with. So refreshing to hear you think aloud. Thank you - Sandra
