Artistic Journey Critique with Dick Folse

Join us for a very special and unique Themed Thursday with artist Dick Folse!

Six landscape oil paintings by Dick Fosse

Do you feel the need for guidance in taking the direction of your work to the next level? Have you reached a point in your artistic journey where you are unsure about artistic processes that will lead you toward your goals?

During this special Themed Thursday event, Dick will work with two Pastel Society of Southern California members to discuss formal, technical, and conceptual issues observed in their work in order to help them resolve issues and build the momentum in advancing artistic growth. The other Themed Thursday participants will watch and learn from the critique discussion and be able to interact and ask questions.

Dick believes that single painting critiques help resolve issues in individual works of art, but do not address the larger issue of developing a consistent investigative line of work, producing unique content, and understanding conceptual perspectives about an artist's overall canon of paintings. Dick will give examples from individual works and tie comments to the participant's artistic objectives. The overall goal will be to highlight strengths and weaknesses and discuss methods and processes that lead to the strengthening of a definitive artistic personal style. In addition, we will talk about how to find inspiration from current and historical artists.
