Laura will explore the four foundational elements that give artwork its structure, clarity, and expressive power: design, value, color, and shape. This presentation guides artists through the essential building blocks that lie beneath every successful painting, revealing how each piece interacts to create a unified visual experience.

About Laura…
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Laura Pollak has always had an affinity for the arts; studying ballet, piano, and all forms of art. She received her Master of Arts from Michigan State University and post graduate work at Center for Creative Studies. Courses included many painting classes as well as graphic design. The latter led her to a career in advertising at some of the largest agencies in the world with clients including Sears, Nortel, Kraft, Kodak, and General Motors. Laura and her husband moved to North Carolina in 1985 where she started her own successful ad agency with clients around the state and Northeast. Painting became her main career 15 years ago. She is now a fulltime, award-winning, professional artist exhibiting in international shows, museums, and galleries worldwide.
Laura has put on seven solo exhibits and has won numerous awards for both her abstract and realistic art. Laura's work was selected and published in Strokes of Genius: The Best of Drawing, Pratique Des Artes in France, as well as many other publications including Pastel Journal. Laura has been featured on Art School Live and has been on the faculty of the International Association of Pastel Societies biennial conference, and Streamline Publishing’s Pastel Live and PACE.
Laura is a juried Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America and a Master Circle Artist with the International Association of Pastel Societies.
